Boston Manor

Boston Manor are a British rock band from Blackpool, Lancashire, England. Formed in March 2013, they are active as a five-piece group with Henry Cox on lead vocals, Mike Cunniff on lead guitar, Ash Wilson on rhythm guitar and backing vocals, Dan Cunniff on bass and backing vocals, and Jordan Pugh on drums.

Career

The band begins with members who had previously played in other groups and started Boston Manor after those bands split. Henry Cox says the local scene in Blackpool is limited, and the band plays outside the town in order to reach a wider audience.

Boston Manor takes its name from the title of a demo sent to Cox by a friend. Their first EP, Here/Now, appears through Never Mend Records on Bandcamp. In 2014 they sign with Failure By Design Records for the EP Driftwood.

They sign to Pure Noise Records in 2015 and release the EP Saudade with the label, followed by the albums Be Nothing in 2016, Welcome to the Neigbourhood in 2018, and Glue in 2020.

Sound and recognition

Their music mixes emo with heavier elements, with references to 1990s grunge and early 2000s post-hardcore. They are also described as punk rock, and their broader genre profile includes pop punk, alternative rock, emo, punk and post-hardcore.

Boston Manor receive a nomination for Best British Breakthrough at the Kerrang! Awards in 2018. Welcome to the Neighbourhood also receives a nomination for Best Album Artwork at the Heavy Music Awards in 2019.
