Booze & Glory

Booze & Glory are a punk group from London, formed in 2009. They have Polish-British roots and are linked to the Polish migrant punk scene in the UK. The band plays mainly Oi! and street punk, with modern British Oi! used to describe their sound.

History

The group forms in London in 2009 with Mark on vocals, Liam on guitar, Bartez on bass and Mario on drums. Mark, Bartez and Mario come from Poland and already have a background in the Oi! scene there. In 2013 Bartez and Mario leave the band for family reasons. They are replaced by the Swedish drummer T. Cliché, who also plays in The Clichés and Clockwork Crew, and by Bubbles.

Verified membership for the group also includes Bart Booze, Mario Booze, Liam Booze, Mark Booze, Bubbles and Tommy Storback.

Releases

In 2010 the band releases its debut album, Always on the Wrong Side, on 84 Records. This is followed by two split EPs, one with Harington Saints and one with The Warriors. In 2011 the band releases its second album, Trouble Free.

The band also issues several EPs and a singles collection. One of its best-known songs is “London Skinhead Crew”, which also has a video and becomes its most widely viewed track. In 2014 the band signs to Step-1 Music and releases As Bold as Brass. Later albums include Chapter IV in 2017 and Hurricane in 2019.

Lyrical themes and identity

Booze & Glory write about British working-class life, the London skinhead scene and drinking beer. Their songs also express pride in England, London and West Ham United. At the same time, the band presents itself as apolitical and states its opposition to the right-wing skinhead scene, while emphasising its mixed national backgrounds.
