Bongo Kanny, also known as Aaron Kedar, is a UK singjay associated with roots reggae and dancehall. He writes most of his own material and combines social commentary with personal observation in his lyrics. His music is described as having a militant edge, and he is presented as part of a newer generation of UK Rastafarian artists with a fast delivery style.

Early releases and recordings

His first release is Green, recorded by Ruff Cutt. The track makes an impact with dancehall listeners and later appears on the Ruff Cutt 2000 compilation CD. He also records numerous dub plates and specials for sound systems around London.

Kanny is a former member of the Suncycle Crew and appears on their 2002 album. He is highly regarded by DJs and artists in London and Jamaica, and his work is compared with singers including Sizzla, Capleton, Buju Banton and Luciano.

Notable performances

He appears as a guest at Riverside Studios in London, where he performs with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. He is also a supporting act for Foxy Brown and Babysham at The Stratford Rex.
