Bo Walton is a rockabilly and country singer from Herefordshire, United Kingdom, and was born in 1972. He grows up in Marden, in Herefordshire, and develops an early interest in rock and roll through his parents’ records, including music by Elvis Presley, Eddie Cochran, Buddy Holly, Billy Fury and Jerry Lee Lewis.

Early musical development

Walton forms his first performing band at the age of 14. The group plays mainly pop-rock covers, but also includes songs by Elvis Presley and Eddie Cochran, reflecting the strong influence of early rock and roll on his style. He begins writing songs and accompanies himself on guitar.

Songwriting and collaborations

Walton later meets former Rockpile bassist John David, who recognises his vocal ability and begins writing and recording with him. Their material draws on the music David has played with Dave Edmunds as well as the rock and roll records Walton has grown up with. Through this collaboration, Walton also works with UK guitarists Micky Gee and Mark Knopfler on a number of compositions.

He also writes with Nik Kershaw, Chris Difford, Mark Nevin and Christopher Neil. Throughout his career, Walton remains strongly associated with rock and roll traditions, particularly the style of music he grows up hearing on his family’s records.
