Blues Control
Blues Control is a duo from Queens, United States, made up of Lea Cho and Russ Waterhouse. Their line-up centres on keyboard, guitar and tape music, and the group begins after the pair spend two years making new age music as Watersports. Blues Control first perform in 2006 and remain active from that point onward.
Performances and collaborations
The duo tour in North America, the UK, Japan and Europe, and play in a wide range of settings including galleries, living rooms, museums, discos and DIY venues. They open for Animal Collective, Cluster and Henry Flynt. They also write and perform an alternate soundtrack for Lewis Klahr’s Five O'Clock Worlds, play for third graders in Oakland, and inspire Octavius Neveaux’s 2009 solo painting exhibition at Cinders Gallery.
Recordings
After several cassette releases, Blues Control issue two debut full-length records in 2007: Puff on Woodsist/Fusetron and Blues Control on Holy Mountain. In 2008 they release a holiday-themed 7-inch as part of Sub Pop’s Singles Club. Their third record, Local Flavor, appears in 2009 on Siltbreeze and includes contributions from Kurt Vile. The record also places high on many critics’ year-end lists.
Later work
Blues Control are also working on a collaborative record with Laraaji for RVNG Intl and on a new full-length record.
