Blitz Kids

Blitz Kids are a rock band from Cheshire East, originally formed in Nantwich in 2005 under the name Rig Up Explosive. The group adopts the name Blitz Kids in 2009 and is active from 2008 to 2015. Their sound sits in alternative rock, rock and post-hardcore.

Releases

The band’s album Vagrants & Vagabonds appears in 2011 on Hassle Records. They follow it with the EP Never Die in 2012, also on Hassle, and the track “On My Own” in 2013. Their later album The Good Youth appears in 2014. Red Bull Records and Hassle Records are both associated with the group.

Collaborations and live work

Blitz Kids support Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows and tour the UK and Europe with Mayday Parade. They also tour the UK with Kids in Glass Houses and support Tonight Alive and LostAlone. Aled Phillips of Kids in Glass Houses provides guest vocals on their single “Story”, and the band also works with producer John Feldmann of Goldfinger on demo material in Los Angeles.

Recognition

The band receive a nomination for Best British Newcomers at the 2011 Kerrang! Awards. They are also described by Kerrang! as “one gloriously deranged cacophony” and by Rock Sound as “a schizophrenic force to be reckoned with”.

Later period

After a member change, Blitz Kids focus on writing and release a mini-album before delaying a second full-length album. The group announces its final shows in 2015 and performs in Manchester and London before ending the project.
