Bleach

Bleach is a Japanese rock group from Okinawa, Japan. The group is an all-female punk trio made up of Kanna on guitar and vocals, Miya on bass, and Sayuri on drums. Kanna writes most of the lyrics.

Career

The group is active from 1998 to 2009. It also appears under the names Bleach03 and Bleachmobile. Bleach starts out with early singles before releasing its first full-length album, Kibaku-Zai (Triggering Device), in 2000. In 2001 the group issues three EPs, including Hadaka No Jo (Naked Queen).

In 2003 Bleach releases the EP Canary Teikoku No Gyakushu (Canary Empire Strikes Back) and later that year a self-titled full-length album, Bleach. Also in 2003, a UK label puts out Three Girls From Okinawa, a release drawn from Naked Queen and three tracks from Triggering Device.

In 2007 the group releases The Head That Controls Both Right And Left Sides Eats Meats And Slobbers Even Today. The band disbands on 10 June 2009, shortly before the release of its final album, bleach stone.

Style

Bleach plays punk rock, and is also identified with a wider Japanese rock context. The group builds a growing audience beyond Japan during its career.
