Blank Manuskript

Blank Manuskript is a progressive rock project from Austria, based in central Europe. The group works in art rock with a particular emphasis on narrative structures, with music written to support an intended story rather than functioning as standalone material.

Formation and line-up

The project forms in late 2007, founded by Christian Breckner, Dominik Wallner and Alfons Wohlmuth. After they develop the concept and musical material for their first project, Tales from an Island - Impressions from Rapa Nui, they add drummer Elias Papaioannou, completing the main line-up.

Project structure and music

Blank Manuskript operates as more than a conventional band, with a wider project supported by guest artists whose contribution is part of the group’s presentation. The music is described by its use of complex arrangements and detailed lyrics, presented as a coherent narrative rather than background listening.
