Blake

Blake is a Finnish hard rock and metal group from Helsinki, active since 2001. Its sound is rooted in 1970s-style riff tradition and combines heavy roots blues with progressive psychedelia. The band is identified with stoner rock and stoner metal, alongside hard rock, heavy metal and rock.

Career

Since forming in 2001, Blake has released four albums and has played hundreds of live shows. The band’s releases include Fireroot (2002), Starbringer (2004), Planetizer (2005), Saturnus (2008), Haze Parade (2010), Shelter (2011) and Taste Of Voodoo (2013). Its latest album in the input is Sa7urnus, released through Stay Heavy Records.

Members

The line-up includes Aaro Seppovaara on vocals and guitar, Sami Hassinen on guitar, Kari “Korak” Reini on drums and Antero Aunesluoma on bass.

Live appearances and recognition

Blake has performed with Black Label Society, Cathedral, Therapy?, Mustasch and Iggy Pop. The band also appears in HIM’s Helldone Festival line-up in 2006 and 2007. Bam Margera uses three Blake songs in his television show Viva La Spring Break, and Andy Cairns of Therapy? names Blake as a possible next heir to the Black Sabbath tradition.
