Blair Dunlop

Blair Dunlop is a folk musician and actor from Chesterfield, England. He is the son of Ashley Hutchings, the founder of The Albion Band, Fairport and Steeleye, and singer Judy Dunlop. He grows up around the music of The Albion Band and begins playing guitar at the age of six. He later takes over the running of The Albion Band from Hutchings in 2011 and folds the band in 2013 to focus on his solo work.

Music and early career

Dunlop starts his music career in 2010 with his first EP, followed by Bags Outside the Door a year later. He completes a short tour of Italy and appears at the Southbank Centre for the In Search of Nic Jones tribute concert. He also supports Fairport Convention, Cara Dillon and Georgie Fame.

Awards and recognition

He is a finalist for the 2012 Radio 2 Young Folk Award and wins the Horizon Award at the 2013 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards.

Other work

Before focusing on music, Dunlop works in film and appears in Tim Burton’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, playing young Willy Wonka.
