Bill Bailey

Bill Bailey is an English comedian, musician and actor from Bath, United Kingdom. Born in 1965, he begins touring in 1984 with other comedians including Mark Lamarr and Toby Longworth. He works mainly in comedy and is associated with stand-up and comic songs, which he combines in his live shows.

Career

His live performances mix stand-up with original comic songs. He has six live tours: Cosmic Jam, Bewilderness, Part Troll, Tinselworm, Dandelion Mind and Qualmpeddler. He also records live material in different formats, with four albums in total, split between two studio albums and two live albums, as well as four live DVDs.

Television and acting

Bailey plays Manny Bianco in the sitcom Black Books. He is also a regular figure on Never Mind the Buzzcocks on the BBC, where he appears for 11 series until October 2008. His other acting work includes a supporting role in Spaced as Bilbo Bagshot, the comic book store owner, and an appearance in the 2011 Christmas special of Doctor Who.

Additional notes

His 2004 tour Tinselworm is recorded onto CDs at each individual show and sold to the audience at the end of the performance, which is described as the first time this has been done on a comedy tour.
