Big Ups
Big Ups are a US post-hardcore band from New York City, formed in September 2010. The group consists of Brendan Finn on drums, Joe Galarraga on vocals, Amar Lal on guitar, and Carlos Salguero Jr. on bass.
The band plays in a punk-inflected style that also fits post-hardcore, noise rock, emo and math rock tags. Their first show takes place on the roof of Galarraga’s apartment building after they are unable to get a booking elsewhere. They then play across New York in bars, basements, kitchens and backyards.
Their songs deal with themes including love, alienation, indecisiveness, comics and high fives. They write singable songs, and their shows are associated with moshing.
