Beyond All Reason

Beyond All Reason are a York melodic rock metal band. The group begins with Venno and Toady, who play together in school bands before Russ and Nick later join and the band forms. The verified membership lists Russell Hampshire and Paul Ventress as members.

Career and activity

The band plays gigs and tours across the UK and gains early support from BBC Radio 1 presenter Mary Anne Hobbs, including a live Rock Show session in January 2004. It also receives attention from Zane Lowe, who mentions the band on Radio 1 and on MTV2, and the group wins Best Single in his Fresh Meat competition. Mary Anne Hobbs also names the band as one to watch on Jo Whiley’s show.

Airplay comes from Xfm, regional BBC stations and KROQ in Los Angeles. Coverage appears in Metal Hammer, Kerrang! and Rock Sound, along with local magazines and online fan sites. Funeral for a Friend also praises the band and supports them on a UK tour date.

Recordings and reception

The band’s album Words of Betrayal receives positive reviews, including scores from Metal Hammer, Zero and Powerplay, as well as several online review sites. The band also appears on Rock Sound and Metal Hammer covermount CDs. Rock Sound votes its track Love Crossed Pistols among its top three tracks.

Live activity and associations

Beyond All Reason perform and tour with Coheed and Cambria, Funeral for a Friend, Hell Is for Heroes, Bullet for My Valentine, Johnny Truant, Breed 77, Amen and Amplifier.
