Beth McCarthy

Beth McCarthy is a pop singer-songwriter from York and London. She has been performing with guitar since 2010 and begins her career as a solo artist in an acoustic folk and country-pop style before developing a fuller band sound. She is also known for her presence on TikTok and other social media, and for appearing as a contestant on Series 3 of The Voice in the UK.

Background and style

McCarthy writes songs centred on love, friendship and self-understanding. Her early influences include Ed Sheeran, Nizlopi, Taylor Swift and The Script, and her work combines storytelling with an informal stage presence that shapes her live shows.

Releases and live work

Her first single, Hero, is followed by the debut EP Northern Light in 2013. She goes on to release the singles Streets of London and Pretty Lies, along with the EPs Self Portrait in 2019, No Hard Feelings in 2022 and IDK How To Talk To Girls in 2024. Early in her career, she also plays support slots for acts including Shed Seven and Paper Aeroplanes.
