Ben Harper And Relentless7
Ben Harper And Relentless7 is a Los Angeles-based rock group formed in 2008 by Ben Harper. The lineup includes Harper on vocals, guitar and slide guitar, Jesse Ingalls on bass and keyboards, and Jordan Richardson on drums; Jason Mozersky also appears as lead guitarist in the group’s early configuration.
Formation and personnel
Harper meets Jason Mozersky in the late 1990s when Mozersky works for an Austin music promoter and drives Harper to a show. After Harper hears a demo from Mozersky’s band, Wan Santo Condo, the two begin working together. Mozersky later contributes to Harper’s album Both Sides Of The Gun, and he recommends Ingalls and Richardson, leading to the formation of Relentless7.
Live activity and recordings
The band debuts new material on the Vote For Change Tour in November 2008, supporting Barack Obama’s presidential campaign. During that period, it also plays versions of Queen and David Bowie’s Under Pressure, which becomes a regular part of its live set. The group then plays smaller club shows in Los Angeles and New York, including Spaceland, The Mint, The Mercury Lounge and Kenny’s Castaway.
Its debut album, White Lies For Dark Times, is released in 2009.
