Bear Cavalry

Bear Cavalry is a four-piece group from the United Kingdom, formed in Gosport, Southern England in 2008. The band consists of Louis Pinder on guitar, vocals and keyboards, Dan Kirk on guitar, trumpet and synthesizers, Owen Ballantyne on bass, and Matthew Cooke on drums.

Style and activity

The band plays a multi-genre progressive dance-rock sound with an experimental indie approach. Their output includes a series of EP releases that develop this style across the early years of the group.

Releases

In 2009, Bear Cavalry self-record and release the EP Two Seasons. The following year they issue the free EP Canadia. In August 2010 they record their third EP, Maple Trails, with Tom Woodhead of ¡Forward, Russia!, and the mastering is done by Sam Manville, formerly of BlakFish. Maple Trails is released in 2011. In 2012 the band releases its fourth EP, Puryss, through Alcopop! Records.

The group is also associated with online platforms including Bandcamp, Myspace, Facebook and Twitter. In a light-hearted description, the band is said to live in Matthew Cooke’s shed and to be made from candyfloss.
