Beady Eye

Beady Eye are an English rock band from Manchester, active from 2009 to 2014. The group forms after the departure of Noel Gallagher from Oasis in August 2009, when the remaining members of Oasis continue under a new name. Its core line-up consists of Liam Gallagher on vocals, Gem Archer on guitar, Andy Bell on guitar and Chris Sharrock on drums. The band also includes bass players Jeff Wootton, who plays from 2010 to 2013, and Jay Mehler, who takes over from 2013 to 2014.

Background and line-up

Beady Eye is made up of former Oasis members Liam Gallagher, Gem Archer, Andy Bell and Chris Sharrock. The group is formed in London in 2009, but its listed origin is Manchester, United Kingdom. Liam Gallagher is the lead vocalist and also plays tambourine. Gem Archer contributes guitars, keyboards, bass, percussion and backing vocals, while Andy Bell plays guitars, bass, keyboards and backing vocals. Chris Sharrock plays drums and percussion. Matt Jones appears as a live and session keyboard player from 2010 to 2014, and Paul Arthurs performs live on guitars in 2013 and 2014.

Recordings

The band releases two studio albums: Different Gear, Still Speeding in 2011 and BE in 2013. Both albums reach the top five of the UK Albums Chart. Their only UK top 40 single is “The Roller”, which peaks at number 31.

After the split

Beady Eye disbands in October 2014. After the split, Liam Gallagher begins a solo career, with Jay Mehler serving as a session musician. Gem Archer and Chris Sharrock later join Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, while Andy Bell returns to Ride after that band reunites.
