Barry Jackson

Barry Jackson is a Glasgow producer and DJ known for laid back house, jazz-tinged broken beat, dub and chill-out music. He sets up the Glasgow label Refo Recordings as a self-release platform, and the label later releases music by other artists including Fineline, Kid Twist, Carl Micheal, Seinan, Mellow Submachine, Andy Taylor, Mash, Milton Jackson and DJ Harri. Refo also holds residencies at Basura Blanca, Brunswick Hotel, Mas Nightclub, 54 Below, Macsorleys, Landsdowne, CCA and Home.

As a DJ, Jackson plays clubs and events in Glasgow, including the Liquid Lounge, CCA and Subclub, and appears alongside DJ Koze, Billy Woods, Milton Jackson, Seinan and Mash. He also works as a live musician and tours the UK with the electronic funk rock group the Sound Development Agency, with whom he plays several EPs and shows at venues and festivals including Glastonbury Festival, Wicker Man Festival, Get a Room, T in the Park, King Tuts, Sub Club, Engine Rooms, Cabaret Voltaire and Liquid Lounge.

Refo Recordings and Jackson are described as part of Glasgow’s underground electronic scene, with the label attracting attention for its roster and for supporting local dance music activity.
