Barron

Barron is the alias of Jordan Roche, an American dubstep producer from Baltimore, Maryland. He begins his music career in 2012 and is one of the first artists signed to Firepower Records, the label founded by Datsik.

Career

His debut EP, Warborn, attracts attention in the dubstep scene. In 2012 he releases four further albums and two singles, including The Decapitator EP and Decimation EP. That year he also appears on the Firepower Reloaded tour alongside AFK, Hizzleguy, Datsik and Rekoil.

In 2013 he releases the single No Escape on Ultragore and later issues the EP Heated on Firepower Records. His tracks are played by artists including Getter, Flux Pavilion, 12th Planet, Excision and Skrillex, and he performs live on the 2013 Firepower Most Wanted Tour.

In 2014 he releases the EP Troublemaker on Firepower and works with riddim dubstep producers as the style gains popularity. His collaboration with Trollphace and Algoreythm, Say What, remains unfinished.

In 2015 he works with Ponicz and releases Flava on Smog Records as part of the riddim dubstep compilation Battle Royale. He also releases the riddim tracks West Coast Don and Guap.

Style and legacy

Barron is known for a dark, heavy approach to dubstep and for a high output of releases in a short period. Tributes follow his death in 2015, including two VIP versions by TwoFold and an Aweminus remix of No Escape. Friends in the scene also hold a show featuring 30 minutes of Barron’s music.
