Awaken I Am

Awaken I Am are an Australian post-hardcore and alternative rock group from Brisbane, also associated with Gold Coast. The band starts out of the earlier group Sleepers, then goes through a number of line-up changes before continuing under the name Awaken I Am. Their sound is described as progressive rock and post-hardcore, with a mix of heavy guitars, subtle synths, and melodic composition.

Music and style

The group’s EP Resonance features prominent guitar riffs, varied drum patterns, memorable songwriting, and restrained use of synths. Their lyrics focus on reflective, thoughtful themes, while the music combines intensity with melody. Their work draws listeners from rock, hardcore, alternative, pop and indie scenes.

Live activity and touring

Awaken I Am tour with a range of established Australian and international acts, including The Amity Affliction, Closure In Moscow, As Tall As Lions, Lydia, Dream On Dreamer, Tonight Alive, Parkway Drive, Skyway, Caulfield, Rufio, Floating Me, Electric Horse, The Winnie Coopers and Surecut Kids. Their live performances are noted for high energy, strong vocal harmonies, and tightly played instrumentation.

The group’s members are Connor Verner-Oakley, Jimmy Alexander, Luke McKenzie, Ryan Oxford, Jay Sibthorpe and Ned Jankovic. Earlier line-up information also lists Adam Roger Douglas on vocals, Ashley Jackson and Jed Nadin on guitars, Mitch Fogarty on drums, and Ned Jankovic on bass.
