Audion

Audion is a techno alias of Matthew Dear, an electronic artist from the United States. Under this name, he releases harder and rougher tracks than some of his other work, focusing on stripped-back 4/4 rhythms, distorted synths and dense club-oriented production.

Releases

The Audion singles Kisses and The Pong draw attention for their abrasive approach to techno in 2004. They are followed by the Suckfish album, which appears on Spectral and is described as one of the label’s hardest and dirtiest releases.

Style

Audion is associated with dub techno, minimal techno, tech house and techno, with a sound centred on minimal structures and more aggressive, gritty textures.
