A*S*Y*S, short for Acid Save Your Soul, is a German hard dance act active from 1995 to the present. It centres on producer and DJ Frank Ellrich and includes Kai MacDonald.

Style and background

The project works across acid house, acid trance, hard trance and hardstyle. Ellrich is also associated with acid-oriented hard dance and with the German trance and techno scene more broadly.

Related projects and aliases

Before and alongside A*S*Y*S, Frank Ellrich works under several other names, including Plasmatics, Riddler & Headcrusher, Naiche & Steve K, X-frame and Future Tribes. He also begins his career alongside Kai Tracid as part of the Tracid Traxxx circle, and later aligns himself with the Straight On Black crew from the Netherlands.

Releases and tracks

A*S*Y*S is known for dark, acid-driven productions. Notable tracks and releases include Acid Nightmare, Acid Save Your Soul, Age Of Darkness, Acid Headcracker, Theme From Pharmacy and No More F*cking Rock & Roll. The latter is one of the highest-selling dance releases of 2005 and includes an exclusive cut from Paul Van Dyk.

Remixes and live work

Ellrich also builds a strong remix catalogue, with versions of tracks by Timo Maas, Cygnus X, Yoji Biomehanika, Tiefenrausch and Hennes & Cold. Since 2000 he tours internationally, headlining clubs and festivals and performing high-energy live shows, including 100% live sets.
