Asteroid

Asteroid is a Swedish stoner rock band, also described as a psychedelic and space-rock act. The group forms in Sweden and plays heavy, progressive, 1970s-influenced fuzz rock with a spaced-out sound. Its music draws on stoner rock, blues, British 1970s classic rock and Swedish traditional folk music.

Formation and style

The band forms in the winter of 2003–2004. It starts out as a regular stoner band, then develops into a trio with a broader sound. Its style keeps the energy of classic fuzz rock while moving into more psychedelic, progressive and groovy territory.

Releases

Asteroid releases Demo 2004, Ep 2005, Asteroid & Blowback as a split with Blowback on Fuzzorama Records, Asteroid in 2007, and II in 2010. The album II is presented as a more developed follow-up to the band’s self-titled debut.

Live reputation

Asteroid tours widely across Europe and is known for energetic live performances.
