Assassin

Assassin is a French rap group from Paris, active since 1985. It forms around Rockin’ Squat and Solo, later joined by Doctor L and DJ Clyde, and its line-up also includes DJ Duke and Profecy. The group works in hardcore hip hop, hip hop, political hip hop and underground hip hop.

History and style

The group develops in the late 1980s and is known for music and lyrics centred on social criticism. Its approach is described as uncompromising, with a strong political edge and an emphasis on direct commentary.

Assassin includes Rockin’ Squat, Solo, Doctor L, DJ Clyde, DJ Duke and Profecy. Rockin’ Squat is identified as Mathias Cassel.
