Ashley Beedle is a DJ and producer from Hemel Hempstead, England, born in 1962. He is also known by the aliases The Crazy Gods, Daddy Ash and Urban Bushmen.

Background

Beedle begins as a music fan before moving into DJing in the early 1980s, when British disc jockeys start playing disco and house records over Jamaican sound systems. He develops his musical interests in London’s mixed cultural scene, drawing on reggae, soul, techno and jazz.

Projects and groups

His first major project is Black Science Orchestra, which reworks older disco songs into house tracks. Those recordings gain acceptance from US DJs including Frankie Knuckles and Masters At Work. Beedle also works in The Ballistic Brothers, X-Press 2 and Black Jazz Chronicles. The verified group list connected with his career also includes Rising Sunz, Disco Evangelists, The East Village Loft Society, Mavis, Human Arts, The Uschi Classen Band, Los Jugaderos, North Street West and Rightism.

Remixing and later work

In the late 1990s, Beedle becomes a sought-after remixer for mainstream acts because of the range of his work. He remains active as a DJ and, in production, concentrates on X-Press 2 and solo work.
