Arno Carstens

Arno Carstens is a South African rock musician, born in 1972, best known as the lead singer of Springbok Nude Girls and as a solo artist. His career spans both band and solo work, and he releases albums in South Africa and internationally.

Career

As frontman of Springbok Nude Girls and later as a solo performer, he releases 10 studio albums and has more than 20 top ten singles. His solo catalogue includes Another Universe, The Hello Goodbye Boys and Wonderful Wild, along with a deluxe edition of Wonderful Wild. He also appears on Springbok Nude Girls releases including Neanderthal 1, It Became a Weapon, be-vest@iafrica.com, AfterLifeSatisfaction, Omnisofa, OPTI MUM, Surpass The Powers, Un-E.Z., Relaxor, The Fat Lady Sings / Best of the Springbok Nude Girls 1995-2001, Goddank Vir Klank 1994 – 2004, PeaceBreaker and Apes with Shades. Other releases listed under his name include Nude Girls and the Live at London’s Astoria DVD, and he is also associated with Bhelltower’s self-titled release.

Awards and performances

He has won five South African Music Awards. He shares stages with U2, The Rolling Stones, Paul Weller, The Police, Simple Minds, INXS and R.E.M., and he tours widely in South Africa, the UK, Europe and the United States. He heads major South African festivals and appears at international festivals including the Isle of Wight, Glastonbury, V Festival, T in the Park and Hard Rock Calling.

Other work

He also works as a visual artist and plans an art exhibition at The Lovell Gallery in Woodstock, Cape Town.
