Arcwelder

Arcwelder are a Minneapolis trio active from 1988 to 2002. The group begins under the name Tilt-a-Whirl in 1988 and later becomes Arcwelder, with a lineup centred on Scott MacDonald, Rob Graber and Bill Graber.

Line-up and background

Scott MacDonald is a drummer and singer with prior experience in the Minneapolis scene, including time in Red Letter Day and Velvet Elvis. He forms the group with bassist and guitarist Rob Graber. Rob then brings in his brother Bill Graber, who takes on bass, guitar and occasional vocals. The Graber brothers switch between bass and guitar, while Scott and Bill share vocal duties.

Their catalogue is noted as a lasting favourite among indie listeners. The group is associated with post-hardcore, indie rock and noise rock.
