Anthony Green

Anthony Green is an American singer-songwriter from Doylestown, Pennsylvania, born in 1982. He is the frontman of Circa Survive and is also known for work with Saosin, The Sound of Animals Fighting, High and Driving, Audience of One, Fuckin Whatever and L.S. Dunes. His music is associated with alternative rock, emo, experimental rock, indie rock, math rock and post-hardcore.

Career

Green first comes to wider attention as the lead vocalist of Saosin. He moves from Philadelphia to Southern California in 2003 to pursue that band, and records one EP with them, Translating the Name, before leaving to form Circa Survive. Circa Survive gains support from Equal Vision and releases the limited edition EP The Inuit Sessions, followed by the albums Juturna and On Letting Go. The band later moves to Atlantic and releases Blue Sky Noise and the EP Appendage. Green describes Circa Survive as his main band and treats his other work, including solo material, as projects.

He also sings with The Sound of Animals Fighting, a group that includes members of Rx Bandits and Finch. Other projects mentioned in his career include High and Driving, Audience of One, Zolof the Rock & Roll Destroyer and Jeer At Rome. He appears as a guest or backing vocalist on recordings by Fear Before the March of Flames, The Receiving End of Sirens, Envy on the Coast, The Spill Canvas, Say Anything, Good Old War, A Trunk Full of Dead Bodies and Like Lions.

Solo work and other recordings

Green’s first solo album, Avalon, is released on Photo Finish Records in 2008. A follow-up, Beautiful Things, appears in 2012. His song “I’ve Been Dying to Reach You,” recorded in 2003 with Justin Shekoski of Saosin at John Feldman’s home studio, is later re-recorded as “Dear Child (I’ve Been Dying to Reach You)” for Avalon. That album also includes other songs he has played over the years but not previously released.

Style and performances

Green is noted for a high vocal range. He also performs acoustic covers of songs by Good Old War, Bjork, Pink Floyd and The Monkees. In late December 2005 he plays four acoustic sets opening for The Color Fred, and he also performs two benefit shows in December 2006.
