Anouk is a Dutch rock singer-songwriter from Den Haag, the Netherlands. Born Anouk Teeuwe in 1975, she performs under the mononym Anouk and works through Goldilox Music.

Career

She breaks through in 1997 with the single “Nobody’s Wife”, which establishes her as a major figure in Dutch pop and rock. She then scores numerous hit singles in the Dutch and Belgian charts, including “R U Kiddin’ Me”, “Michel”, “Girl”, “Lost”, “Modern World”, “Three Days in a Row”, “Birds” and “Woman”.

Anouk releases twelve studio albums, including Wen d'r maar aan. Her music is rooted in rock, but it also extends into pop and includes elements of soul, funk and hip hop. Her sound is often associated with strong rock songs such as “Nobody’s Wife” and “R U Kiddin’ Me”, alongside more restrained songs such as “Lost” and “Michel”.

Eurovision

In 2013 she represents the Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö with “Birds”. The song reaches the final, the first Dutch Eurovision final appearance since 2004, and finishes ninth with 114 points.

Personal life

She is married twice: first to her manager Edwin Jansen, and later to Remon Stotijn, also known as The Anonymous Mis, the frontman of Postmen. With Stotijn she has three children: Benjahmin Kingsley, Elijah Jeramiah and Phoenix Ray. She later has three more children: Jesiah Dox, Sion Jethro and Jelizah Rose.
