Andy White is an Irish singer-songwriter, poet and author from Belfast, United Kingdom. Born in 1962, he begins his recording career in the 1980s and works mainly as a singer-songwriter, with folk and folk rock associations.

Career

White releases his first EP, Religious Persuasion, in 1985 on Stiff Records. His debut album, Rave on Andy White, follows in 1986. Over the years he releases fourteen solo albums, along with numerous compilations and live albums.

He collaborates with a range of other artists, including Peter Gabriel, Sinéad O'Connor and producer John Leckie. In 1993 he wins Ireland’s Hot Press Songwriter of the Year Award. In 1995 he releases Altitude with Tim Finn and Liam O’Maonlai; the trio records under the name ALT.

White later releases a best-of compilation and a live album on WOMAD Select, and he moves to Australia. In 2019 he releases Songwriter. In 2023, he and Tim Finn record the album AT.
