Andy Cutting
Andy Cutting is an English folk musician and composer from Harrow, born in 1969. He plays the melodeon and wins the Folk Musician of the Year award at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards in 2008.
He comes to prominence with the innovative band Blowzabella and remains a consistent presence in folk music. His playing draws on the English tradition as well as music from Central France and Quebec, and many of his tunes become widely used on the folk scene.
Cutting is also known for his duo with English fiddle player, guitarist and singer Chris Wood. Wood & Cutting become an influential and long-running partnership, and he also plays with Kate Rusby, including the Kate Rusby Trio and Kate Rusby Band, and with The John McCusker Band and Blowzabella.
In addition to his band work, he contributes to recording sessions and occasional tours with June Tabor, Fernhill, Sting, Pete Morton and Chumbawamba.
