Andrew Howie

Andrew Howie is a singer-songwriter from Stirling, Scotland. He performs acoustic material and also works with electronica, with his songwriting rooted in guitar-based songs and atmospheric production.

Calamateur

From 2000 to 2013, he releases a substantial body of work under the name Calamateur. His music in that period appears on the Calamateur catalogue, and his later work under his own name keeps many of the same qualities while moving further forward in songwriting and production.

Solo work and collaborations

Andrew Howie releases The Great Divide as the first album under his own name. He regularly performs small acoustic live shows, often as house concerts. His recent live and recorded collaborations include work with Scottish collective The Grand Gestures, Jo Mango, Iain Morrison, Yvonne Lyon, Kim Edgar, Steve Lawson, Rachel Sermanni and David Scott of The Pearlfishers.

Other work

His music is used in the BBC Three drama Lip Service and in several short films. He also completes songwriting commissions for Vox Liminis, Blythswood Trust and Inverness Old Town Art. In addition, he works as a songwriting and music tutor, and has taught through schools, prisons and youth organisations across Central Scotland. He holds an MA in Songwriting and Performance, which he earns after winning The Gerry Rafferty scholarship, and a BA in Popular Music.
