Amanda Rheaume
Amanda Rheaume is an Ottawa-born Métis folk singer-songwriter from Canada. She is an active member of the 2SLGBTQ+ community and uses she/her pronouns. Her work sits within folk music and she has released a series of full-length albums.
Albums and recognition
In 2013, she releases Keep a Fire, which wins the Canadian Folk Music Award for Aboriginal Songwriter of the Year at the 10th Canadian Folk Music Awards in 2014. The album is also nominated for Aboriginal Album of the Year at the Juno Awards of 2014. She follows it with Holding Patterns in 2016, which receives a CFMA nomination for Aboriginal Songwriter of the Year at the 12th Canadian Folk Music Awards.
Her fourth album, The Skin I’m In, comes out in 2019. The Spaces in Between follows in 2022 and is produced by Hill Kourkoutis. She then receives her third CFMA nomination, for Indigenous Songwriter of the Year, at the 18th Canadian Folk Music Awards in 2023.
Label work
In 2021, Rheaume and ShoShonna Kish of Digging Roots co-found Ishkōdé Records. The label releases music by Rheaume, Digging Roots, Aysanabee and Morgan Toney.
