AlunaGeorge

AlunaGeorge are a British electronic duo from London, made up of Aluna Francis and George Reid. The act forms in 2009 and remains active. Francis provides vocals and songwriting, while Reid handles production and instrumentation. The duo works in electronic and UK garage, and is also associated with trip-hop, indie and alternative R&B.

Formation and early work

Francis and Reid meet in June 2009 after Reid remixes “Sweetheart” by Francis’ band My Toys Like Me. Their collaboration begins online, and they form AlunaGeorge through a shared interest in each other’s work. Early attention comes from radio support for “Sweetheart”, and the duo also reaches a wider audience when one of their tracks appears in the US version of Skins.

Style and releases

The duo’s music combines Francis’ vocal harmonies with Reid’s restrained electronic production. Their debut AA-side single is “Analyser/We Are Chosen”, which presents their mix of synthetic textures and melodic pop structure.
