All The Luck In The World
All The Luck In The World are a three-piece alternative and indie folk band from County Wicklow, Ireland. The group forms in 2011 and is active from then to the present. It consists of Neil Foot, Ben Connolly and Kelvin Barr.
Formation and early activity
Neil Foot founds the band in November 2011. In its early period, the group spends the winter writing and recording music with friends and playing acoustic sets at local venues. It posts a small, home-recorded discography on YouTube, where the songs begin to draw attention and build a small but enthusiastic following.
Growth and wider attention
The song “Never”, set to simple footage of a car journey, steadily gains views and reaches 70,000 plays without promotion. In 2013, a feature in a Trivago advertisement gives the track wider exposure, and the video passes 1,000,000 views.
Debut album recording
In spring 2013, the band works on new material at Neil’s home in the Wicklow countryside. After agreeing a deal with Barfilm Records, it begins plans for a debut album. Recording takes place over the summer in Denee, Belgium, and in Berlin, where the band records and mixes over six weeks in total. It later spends studio time in Haldern to finish the album and record two additional songs. The resulting record combines the band’s home-recorded acoustic sound with larger instrumental arrangements while keeping an intimate feel.
