Alix Perez

Alix Perez is a drum and bass DJ and producer from Charleroi and London, associated with drum and bass, dubstep, electronic and liquid funk. He is based in North London and is originally from Belgium. He works as a solo artist and is also part of the project Shades, alongside Richie Brains.

He begins DJing at 14 and moves into production at 17. His early releases appear on labels including Shogun Audio, Liquid V, Bassbin, Creative Source, Horizons, Progress, Brigand and Fokuz, and his music circulates widely among drum and bass DJs. His sound is described as smooth and detailed, with a strong emphasis on soulful elements within drum and bass.

Perez collaborates with artists including Jenna G, Redeyes, Sabre, MC Fats, Spectrasoul and Specific. He appears regularly at Fabio’s Swerve night and at Movement, the weekly at Bar Rumba, and he receives bookings internationally, including in cities such as Paris and Toronto. His tracks receive play on BBC 1Xtra and he gains support from figures including Bukem and Bailey.

He is featured on the front cover of ATM Magazine as one of the “leaders of the nu-skool” and is nominated for Breakthrough DJ and Breakthrough Producer of the Year at the BBC 1Xtra Bass Awards. He is also linked with 1985 Music.
