Alborosie

Alborosie is the stage name of Alberto Dascola, an Italian reggae singer, deejay and producer based in Kingston, Jamaica. He is from Marsala in Italy and was born in 1977. His work sits across reggae, dancehall and dub, and he is associated with the new roots style.

Career

In 1993, he forms a reggae band in Italy called Reggae National Tickets. He later develops a solo career and runs his own label, Forward Records, through which he releases several singles. Among these are “Kingston Town”, “Rastafari Anthem”, “Slam Bam”, “Life” featuring Jah Cure, and “Call Up Jah”.

Recordings and collaborations

His biggest hit is “Herbalist”, which he produces in 2006. He also releases Soul Pirate as a limited edition CD in 2008. The release includes “Kingston Town” and “Rastafari Anthem”, as well as duets with Michael Rose and “Natural Mystic” with Ky-Mani Marley. Ranking Joe also appears on “Precious”.
