Alastair Greene

Alastair Greene is a guitarist, singer and songwriter from Santa Barbara, United States. Born in 1971, he works in blues rock, blues, hard rock, rock and rhythm and blues, and he has been a regular figure in the Southern California music scene for more than two decades. He is known for blues-based, soulful melodic guitar playing and for being a slide guitarist.

Career

Greene performs both as a solo artist and with his own band, which has played live in several line-ups for more than 10 years. He first releases his debut CD, A Little Wiser, in 2002, and later issues five solo CDs in total, including two live albums and a collaboration with French blues guitarist Frank “Paris Slim” Goldwasser on Riatsala Music.

He also appears on a wide range of independent releases across blues and southern rock. His song “The Long Way Home” appears in a 2007 episode of the TNT series Saving Grace.

Recordings and collaborations

Greene plays guitar on Alan Parsons’ A Valid Path, which receives a Grammy nomination in 2006. He also contributes to Aynsley Dunbar’s Mutiny for SPV Records, Mitch Kashmar’s Wake Up and Worry on Delta Groove Records, and Franck Goldwasser’s Bluju. He remains a frequent guest with the Alan Parsons Live Project.

He continues to perform regularly with Mitch Kashmar, Frank Goldwasser and other blues and roots acts, and he also works with Shari Puorto.

Live work

Greene performs an average of 100 live dates a year, both with his own band and alongside other Southern California acts. He opens shows for artists including The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Robin Trower, John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers, Lonnie Brooks, Chris Thomas King, Lucky Peterson, Jonny Lang, Billy Boy Arnold, Joe Bonamassa and Mike Campbell’s Dirty Knobs.
