Alarm Will Sound

Alarm Will Sound is a contemporary-music chamber orchestra from Rochester, United States, active since 2001. The ensemble begins among students at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, and grows into a large group with players who have backgrounds in composition, improvisation, jazz, popular music, early music and traditional musics from around the world.

Repertoire and collaborations

The group’s repertoire spans European and American music, ranging from highly modernist works to pieces with pop influences. It works with contemporary composers and premieres music by Steve Reich, John Adams, Roberto Carnevale, David Lang, Anthony Gatto, Cenk Ergün, Aaron Jay Kernis, Michael Gordon, Augusta Read Thomas, Stefan Freund and Wolfgang Rihm.

Residency

Alarm Will Sound serves as musical artists-in-residence at Dickinson College from 2004 to 2007.
