Akora

Akora is a New Jersey rock band described as “Sex-Core”, with a sound associated with experimental rock, progressive rock, alt. metal and progressive music. The group forms around four members: Rob Torres, Teddy Gibbons, David Jones and Steve Biasucci.

Formation and line-up

Torres, Gibbons and Jones first play together before the band finds a lead vocalist. After an extended search, Biasucci joins in spring 2007. He previously plays with the New Jersey band Deny the Myth and quickly records vocals for “Falcore”.

Notable performances and recognition

“Falcore” and its music video help Akora reach the 2007 Famecast Rock Finals in Austin, Texas. The event includes judges Aaron Burgess, Gary Graff and Paul Korzilius. The band performs a ten-minute set and wins the 2007 Rock Critic’s Pick.

Recording activity

Akora then works on its debut CD, Why Can’t Cents Make Sense?. Songs associated with the release include “Naked Hallway Sex”, “Wake up Deputy” and “Bullets for Ballads”. Rob Torres handles engineering and recording for the album.

Later difficulties

After this period, the band faces several setbacks, including a broken foot, a fractured hand, vocal problems and a serious infection, but continues working together.
