Ain't

Ain't are a London rock band. The group brings together post-punk, shoegaze and the stranger edge of 1990s guitar music, drawing on influences from both sides of the Atlantic. Their sound sits between nostalgia and invention, with a mix of urgency, heaviness and dense, dreamlike texture.

Line-up

The band consists of George Ellerby on guitar and vocals, Ed Randall on guitar, Hanna Baker Darch on vocals, Chapman Ho on bass guitar and Hoe Lockstone on drums.

Music

The band’s debut single, Oar, is written in the middle of the pandemic and deals with the frustration that comes from losing trust in those in charge. Baker Darch’s vocal style shifts between sardonic restraint and forceful release, adding to the song’s sense of tension and anger. Ain't’s arrangements combine an industrial-leaning hum with a softer, slow-pop dreaminess, creating a sound that moves between calm and storm.

The group’s songs are shaped with a sense of contrast and emotional release, and their work is marked by a direct, cathartic quality.
