Afro Cluster

Afro Cluster is a nine-piece band based in Cardiff that brings together afrobeat, funk and hip hop. The group describes its sound as an Afro-funk blend built from powerful grooves, layered rhythms, strong refrains and sharp cuts, with lyrics that move between personal, political and party themes.

The band is not presented as a straightforward imitation of classic afrobeat. Instead, it works by reworking that style with more recent influences, combining the elements into a live set shaped by improvisation and a strong emphasis on performance. DJ Veto contributes turntablism to the lineup, helping to complete the group’s sound.
