Adopted As Holograph are the project of Dario Marturano, from Italy. The act forms in Glasgow in 2009 and takes its name from a band originally built around former Uncle John & Whitelock and Cannon guitarist David Philp. After touring with Isobel Campbell & Mark Lanegan in 2008, Philp brings in Andrew Gifford of Fiddlers' Bid and Cannon on double bass and Tom Pettigrew of Cannon on violin.

For the next year, the group plays as a three-piece before expanding with Caroline Hussey on accordion, Ryan Buchanan on guitar, both from Hussy and the Wolf, and Chris Houston on drums. Its sound combines alternative rock with continental jazz and Balkan music, and often uses Gothic themes. The style is also described as Gypsy Jazz Noir, with influences from Eastern European music, 1950s rock and roll and Gypsy jazz, and comparisons are made with The Doors, The Divine Comedy, Tindersticks and The Monochrome Set.

The band tours the UK festival circuit in 2011 and appears in session on Mary Ann Kennedy's Global Gathering on BBC Radio Scotland in April 2012. Its self-titled debut album, Adopted as Holograph, is released in 2013.
