Adema

Adema is an American rock band from Bakersfield, California. The group forms in 1998 and is active in alternative metal, alternative rock, metal, nu metal, post-grunge and rock. Its line-up includes Mark Chavez, Dave DeRoo, Tim Fluckey, Mike Ransom, Luke Caraccioli, Ed Faris, Bobby Reeves, Marc DeLeon and Kris Kohls.

History

The band’s early line-up includes vocalist Mark Chavez, guitarists Tim Fluckey and Mike Ransom, bassist Dave DeRoo and drummer Kris Kohls. Adema releases its first two albums, Adema and Unstable, before internal conflict and repeated personnel changes begin to shape its history. Ransom leaves in 2003 and Chavez leaves in 2004.

Luke Caraccioli becomes the vocalist in 2005 and appears on Planets, but leaves later that year. Bobby Reeves and Ed Faris, both formerly of Level, then join and appear on Kill the Headlights in 2007, after which the band goes on hiatus. The original line-up later reunites for touring in 2009, though Ransom and Chavez leave again before new material is recorded.

Tim Fluckey takes over lead vocals from 2011 to 2017, and during this period the band releases the EP Topple the Giants. Ransom returns in 2013, Chavez rejoins in 2017, then leaves again in 2019. Ryan Shuck becomes the vocalist after that, and the band continues performing.

Later activity

Adema releases two singles and a three-track EP before Shuck leaves in February 2024. The group then signs with Cleopatra Records and completes writing for a new album in late 2024. Recording begins in summer 2025 at 4th Street Recording with producer, engineer and songwriter Sevo Navajas.

Albums

The band’s studio albums are Adema, Unstable, Planets, Kill the Headlights and Cruel Machine.
