Acoustic Avenue

Acoustic Avenue is a group based in Karlsruhe, Germany. It works in a pop and jazz style and is tagged with jazz soul funk and mixed-swing. The band combines swing, soul and jazz material with its own songs, and it develops a personal sound rather than simply following current revival trends.

Line-up

The group centres on Sebastian Schwarzbach, who sings and plays guitar. He is joined by Alex Nagel on piano, Andi Nolte on drums and Wlad Larkin on bass. A horn section also forms part of the arrangement, with Tommy Engelhardt and Klaus Buchner on saxophone and Didi Sonntag on trumpet.

Style and repertoire

Acoustic Avenue presents easy-going material with an emphasis on swing and polished ensemble playing. Its repertoire includes songs associated with the Sinatra era, Motown classics and original titles. The band’s use of a horn section gives some performances a bigger-band character.

Activity

The group tours in Germany and elsewhere in Europe and performs more than 100 shows a year. It has released an album titled Walkin’ In The Park, which marks a step toward a wider international profile.
