Absent Elk

Absent Elk are a British rock group from the United Kingdom, active from 2008. The line-up centres on frontman Kjetil, who is from Norway, with the rest of the band based in Brighton. Before Kjetil joins, the other members play together in different line-ups for several years, then find a singer who completes the group’s formation.

The band name comes from Kjetil’s emigration from Norway, and that background also shapes much of the group’s lyrical content. After meeting him, the band write a completely new set and play their first live show within three weeks, performing to a few thousand festival-goers.

Absent Elk sign to Sony BMG and begin work on their debut album. They also tour with the Hoosiers and the Script towards the end of 2008, and in 2009 they tour with Das Pop and Girls Aloud.
