A Moving Sound

A Moving Sound is a multinational group based in Taipei, Taiwan. The group includes Taiwanese singer Mia Hsieh, American Scott Prairie, who plays French horn, bass, drums and vocals, a Chinese erhu player, a Belgian guitarist and a Brazilian percussionist.

Music and style

The group’s music is rooted in Chinese tradition, but it also draws on African and Middle Eastern influences. It is described as experimental and as moving in different directions rather than following a fixed style. The ensemble combines vocal performance with instruments associated with both Chinese and Western traditions, including the erhu and French horn.
