GuilFest 2025: 25 Years of Family Fun and Live Music 🎉

Festival Crowd Header

Stoke Park in Guildford was buzzing on July 5–6, 2025, as GuilFest marked its 25th anniversary with a truly family-friendly celebration. What sets GuilFest apart is its cross-generational appeal – in fact, the festival is proud to be crowned the UK’s Best Family Festival. And this year it didn’t disappoint: parents and kids streamed in, ready to soak up two days of music, crafts, and family fun. With warm sunshine and happy crowds, it felt like the whole community had rolled out a giant picnic blanket to celebrate a silver jubilee in style.

Family-Friendly Fun for Every Generation
From toddlers to grandparents, GuilFest had something for everyone. The KidZone was a particular highlight – kids could try circus skills, make crafts, listen to storytelling, and even boogie at a bubble disco. As one reviewer noted, GuilFest’s KidZone offers “circus skills, crafts, storytelling, puppet shows, and bubble discos, making it one of the best-equipped family zones on the circuit.”. Little ones were delighted to spot characters like Bluey and Peppa Pig mingling with the crowd, and parents could relax knowing there were games, creative workshops, and comfortable seating areas just steps away. Throughout the park, familiar cartoon character booths and hands-on activities kept kids smiling and busy, while the aroma of pizza, curries and paella from international food stalls kept hungry bellies happy. It really was “a proper family affair,” with something special for every age and interest.

The stages featured a mix of legend-and-tribute acts that had young fans and their parents dancing together. Guitarist KT Tunstall (pictured) brought down the house on Sunday with her feel-good hits, while Saturday featured Motown legends The Jacksons.

Silver Jubilee Celebrations 🎉
This milestone year gave the festival an extra sparkle. Headliners like The Jacksons (Saturday) and Razorlight (Sunday) brought real star power to the Jubilee weekend, while quirky tribute bands and local choirs added plenty of nostalgia. As one preview put it, GuilFest 2025 delivered a “bold, eclectic lineup packed with energy, nostalgia, and enough surprises”. In between main-stage sets, festival-goers spotted silver decorations and anniversary signage waving in the park – a subtle nod to the 25th birthday. Veterans of the festival swapped stories under the summer sky (“Remember when we camped out for Muddy Monday?!”) and newcomers made fresh memories. Through it all, GuilFest felt scrappily charming – to quote a festival reviewer, the event remained “loud, loose, and proudly unpolished”. It was this joyful, DIY energy that reminded everyone they were at a community celebration as much as a music festival.

Stages of Nostalgia and New Discoveries
Across the seven stages, music for every generation echoed in the trees. On Saturday, classic acts like Soul II Soul and Sleeper had long-time fans singing along, while tribute bands (definitely an Oasis tribute and a Spice Girls Experience) brought instant singalongs. Sunday’s schedule blended indie-rock and brass – from pop anthem-writer KT Tunstall to the electrifying Duddy Moonshine Big Band – keeping both kids and parents on their feet. Local ensembles (including the Rock Choir and the Royal Surrey Choir) rounded out the bill, giving the event its friendly hometown feel. The result was a multi-generational soundtrack that let kids dabble in disco and dads relive their youth in one afternoon. It was a fun reminder that GuilFest’s strength has always been uniting generations through music and play.

Room to Grow: Layout & Logistics 🗺️
Even with all the high notes, there’s always room for improvement. GuilFest’s 2024 edition was praised for smooth organization, but this year’s bigger crowds meant a few wrinkles in the layout. Some families mentioned that wayfinding could be clearer – for example, more signage between stages and activity areas would help visitors plan their day. At peak times the food stalls formed long queues.

Looking Ahead: Excited for 2026 ✨
All in all, GuilFest 2025 was a roaring success – a warm, crowd-pleasing celebration of music and togetherness. The smiles on parents’ faces (and that epic cake smash for the anniversary kids tent!) showed it was a weekend to remember. As one family put it, “We had the best time – GuilFest just gets better every year.” The honest truth is, the core festival is fantastic, and even its hiccups are fixable. With the lessons learned – mostly about smoother navigation and scheduling – there’s every reason to look forward to 2026. Roll on next July, when GuilFest can build on this triumphant 25th year by sharpening the layout and dialing up the fun. Here’s to many more years of foot-stomping music, wide grins, and sunshine under the summer sky! 🙌
