The thrash metal legends, Megadeth, have announced the European leg of their Breakout: Hibernation Of The Nations tour, with Black Label Society and Testament joining them throughout the run.

For UK metal fans, it creates one of the biggest heavy touring packages currently confirmed for 2027.

Megadeth UK tour dates 2027

Megadeth's UK dates are:

9 March – The SSE Arena, Belfast

11 March – OVO Arena Wembley, London

12 March – Motorpoint Arena, Nottingham

13 March – Co-op Live, Manchester

15 March – Utilita Arena, Cardiff

16 March – OVO Hydro, Glasgow

18 March – bp pulse LIVE, Birmingham

19 March – First Direct Arena, Leeds

The tour then continues into mainland Europe.

Megadeth's farewell tour

These aren't simply another collection of Megadeth arena shows.

The dates form part of the band's multi-year global farewell headline tour, bringing an extraordinary career towards its final chapter.

Megadeth have spent more than four decades helping define thrash metal, with Dave Mustaine remaining the central figure throughout the band's history.

Their influence stretches far beyond the metal underground, with albums including Peace Sells... but Who's Buying?, Rust in Peace and Countdown to Extinction becoming landmarks of the genre.

That history gives the 2027 UK dates additional significance.

For some fans, this could be their final opportunity to see Megadeth headline an arena in Britain.

Black Label Society and Testament join the tour

The support bill makes the tour particularly strong.

Black Label Society and Testament have been confirmed for the entire European run.

Black Label Society bring the unmistakable presence of Zakk Wylde, while Testament add another of thrash metal's most enduring bands to the package.

Rather than a conventional headline show with smaller support acts, the result looks more like a three-band celebration of several generations of heavy music.

Eight UK and Ireland shows

Another notable feature is the scale of Megadeth's UK run.

Rather than playing only London and one or two regional arenas, the tour reaches Belfast, London, Nottingham, Manchester, Cardiff, Glasgow, Birmingham and Leeds.

That gives fans around Britain and Northern Ireland considerably more opportunities to attend without travelling across the country.

The European tour itself begins in Belfast on 9 March before eventually finishing in Lisbon on 13 April.

A major year for UK metal fans

Megadeth's farewell dates also arrive during what is already developing into an interesting 2027 calendar for heavy music.

Bloodstock has begun revealing its 2027 bill, while bands are announcing tours and festival plans many months ahead.

Megadeth's arena run gives metal fans another major event to add to that calendar.

And with the words farewell tour attached, these dates are likely to carry more weight than a standard album cycle.
