Boardmasters has today revealed its second wave of acts set to perform at Cornwall’s own surf and music festival, taking place this year from Wednesday 9 – Sunday 13 August.

At Watergate Bay’s sunrise this morning, Boardmasters unveiled 29 epic acts who will join headliners Two Door Cinema Club, Jamiroquai and Alt-J. With everything from grime, house, alt-rock, reggae, singer-songwriter and much more, Boardmasters is set to return bigger and better than ever to the sun-drenched Cornish coastline for another huge year of surf and music.

Psych rockers The Flaming Lips are currently taking Europe by storm following the 2017 release of their acclaimed 15th studio album ‘Oczy Mlody’. The band, known for their weird and wonderful, larger than life live shows are expected to bring future funk and then some to Boardmasters this August. Festivalgoers can expect super-sized props, eccentric costumes and funked up lighting, with frontman Wayne Coyne and his bandmates pulling out all the stops for a must-see sci-fi infused show.

Platinum-selling Indie rockers The Vaccines, have been teasing that hotly-anticipated new music is coming very soon. Having released three studio albums since they burst onto the scene in 2011, the band has been riding a wave of global success ever since and with more than 1 million records sold worldwide, they’re showing no signs of slowing down. Boardmasters will be treated to the band’s biggest hits including, ‘If You Wanna’, ‘Wetsuit’, ‘I Always Knew’ and possibly even something brand spanking new to bring the glistening backdrop of Watergate Bay alight.

He’s been teasing his return for some time now and having kicked 2017 off with a bang, announcing a debut album and UK tour, Boardmasters can today reveal that grime superstar Stormzy will be performing at this year’s festival. With a string of big tracks and MOBO Awards in his locker, Stormzy’s rise to stardom from the UK underground scene has been nothing short of meteoric. His debut record ‘Shut Up’ is now the most-watched UK freestyle video on YouTube ever, with over 46 million views. The London-born hitmaker will bring gritty, UK grime and hip-hop to Watergate Bay in what’s sure to be an electrifying show.

Boardmasters is also stoked to reveal even more acts added to the bill today. First up is singer-songwriter Frank Turner who’ll bring his politically-tinged punk-folk sound to the Cornish coast. Also announced are UK house duo Gorgon City (Live) and hot on the heels of releasing his critically-acclaimed no.2 UK album ‘Landlord’ is Giggs. The reggae star who needs no introduction – Ziggy Marley appears alongside grime legend Lethal Bizzle, Birmingham-born DJ Hannah Wants, Pete Tong with his feel-good Balearic beats and Hot Since 82 bringing tech house vibes. ‘You Don’t Know Me’ and ‘House Work’ hitmaker Jax Jones joins Tourist, Jagwar Ma, Kurupt FM, Kate Nash, Loyle Carner and Kiko Bun. Late Nite Tuff Guy, Purple Disco Machine, Sonny Fodera, T Williams, Camelphat, JP Cooper, Cortes, Yotto, Palace, Tender Central and Tonn Piper MC complete the latest batch of announced acts for a unique festival experience in the most epic setting the UK has to offer.

Inspired by the freedom, adventure and creativity of surfing and music, Boardmasters was born in 1981. Expect parties that run late into the night and a beautiful beach to recuperate on during the day. The 5-day event is situated across two stunning locations in Cornwall - the surfing mecca of the UK, Fistral Beach, where world class International Surf Competitions take place, and arguably the most stunning location in the country to watch live music, Watergate Bay. Last year the grassroots surf and music festival welcomed over 150,000 festival goers to sunny Cornwall.
